See all six pictures below! In these first two pictures you can see a sample cleaning that we have done to show our potential customer. Once he saw it, he was amazed at what the steam had done.
This deck was really bad and needed some attention. We do not use any chemicals. Deck cleaners are chlorinated and will pull out the natural tree oil from the wood. By using cleaners, the wood on your deck will shrink, bow and start to split in time. Regular pressure washing with cold water will chew up the softer grain and your wood will prematurely be eaten away. We know this because that's how it was done 20 years ago. If cleaned with cold water, your deck will start showing discoloration within a month. That may not seem much, but within two or three months it's worse. The steam will kill the bacteria and fungus that grows on and within the wood, therefore the cleaning can last for years and if you're sealing or staining the deck, you really need to get it as clean as possible.
In the picture below you will see what the deck looks like after it has been
treated with a protective coating. When we went back to take pictures of the deck dry
and finished, the homeowner had already sealed it up. I have to say, he
did an amazing job! Wish we could take credit for that part.
A small percentage of people can apply the stains & sealers correctly. If you can do that part, we recommend that you do so to save yourself a little money. But if not, we would be glad to do it for you. Look at the difference below!
